sa cahedam aho kastam

 vrthatma me ’nutapitah

na dharmaya na kamaya

 yasyarthayasa idrsah

 

Translation: 

 

The brahmana spoke as follows: O what great misfortune! I have simply tormented myself uselessly, struggling so hard for money that was not even intended for religiosity or material enjoyment.
